Setting up an Interface to meteocontrol VCOM

Modified on Tue, 12 Nov at 7:06 PM

Users of meteocontrol's VCOM monitoring system can integrate it with TabTool PV O&M via an API interface, allowing VCOM tickets to be transferred for further processing.

How to set up the interface to meteocontrol VCOM

To set up the interface, you need to enable the "Interface meteocontrol VCOM" module in TabTool PV O&M. You can find instructions on how to do this in the article How to activate or deactivate modules in TabTool.

This will activate fields in your TabTool package that need to be filled out for communication with VCOM:

1. Open the System Menu and go to the "Settings" section.

Click on “Interface Settings” in the Settings menu and enter the required data from your VCOM account into the fields provided.

Next, select whether all tickets with the status "open," "assigned," or "in progress" should be transferred to TabTool or only those marked with "Field Service.

2. Open the User Management from the System Menu.

Enter the VCOM username for each user who will handle tickets. If no personal VCOM account exists, a standard user like "TabTool" can be used. This default user should also be set up in VCOM. This allows TabTool users without their own VCOM account to communicate with VCOM and submit ticket updates.

3. In the project file, you will find the field "VCOM Project ID" under "Plant masterdata." Enter the five-digit system key from VCOM here.

What Data Is Transferred from VCOM to TabTool?

The following data from tickets created in VCOM will be transferred to TabTool:

  • Title
  • Description
  • Responsible person
  • Images & Documents
  • Ticket Status
  • Ticket Type
  • Priority
  • Start/End of Fault
  • Date of Ticket Creation/Closure
  • Comments (as log entries)

Note: The ticket number from VCOM is transmitted to TabTool but not shown in the TabTool ticket. Instead, the tickets in TabTool will receive their own ticket number. However, during data synchronization from TabTool back to VCOM, the VCOM ticket number will remain unchanged and will not be overwritten by the TabTool ticket number.

Please note the following restrictions imposed by VCOM:

  • The "Responsible Person" field in VCOM can only accept one entry, so only one responsible person can be transferred to TabTool in tickets coming from VCOM.
  • VCOM tickets can contain a maximum of 10 files (images/documents). If more than 10 files are uploaded to a VCOM-synced ticket in TabTool, only the first 10 will be transferred to VCOM.
  • Images and documents deleted in TabTool will not be automatically deleted in VCOM; this must be done manually in VCOM. However, if images or documents are deleted in VCOM, they will automatically be removed from the ticket in TabTool.
  • When enabling the "Interface meteocontrol VCOM" module, ticket causes from VCOM are read and imported into TabTool as "Ticket Type" entries. These new entries will have the "VCOM" prefix and cannot be deleted from TabTool's system data. They will remain even if you deactivate the "Interface meteocontrol VCOM" module. You will find these entries in the "Ticket Type" dropdown in TabTool tickets.

Completed tickets can be closed in TabTool, and they will be closed both in the TabTool ticket list and in VCOM.
